The Registrant, Connecticut Water Service, Inc. (referred to as “the Company”, “we” or “our”) was incorporated in 1974, with The Connecticut Water Company (Connecticut Water) as its largest subsidiary which was organized in 1956. Connecticut Water Service, Inc. is a non-operating holding company, whose income is derived from the earnings of its six wholly-owned subsidiary companies. In 2006, approximately 62% of the Company’s earnings from continuing operations were attributable to water activities carried out within its regulated water company, Connecticut Water.
