ebank Financial Services, Inc., formerly known as ebank.com, Inc., a Georgia corporation, is the holding company for ebank, a federal savings bank. We provide banking and other financial services to small business and retail customers through our offices in Atlanta, Georgia and via the Internet. We were incorporated in August 1997 for the purpose of forming and operating ebank, originally known as Commerce Bank. We obtained final FDIC and Office of Thrift Supervision approvals to open ebank for business on August 17, 1998. Initially, we operated ebank in one location in Atlanta, Georgia as a traditional community bank, emphasizing personalized service and the banking needs of individuals and small businesses. From the outset, however, we intended to enhance our delivery of these services through the use of state-of-the-art technology. We also planned to capitalize on the flexibility provided by our thrift charter to pursue strategic opportunities in related areas of commerce. In April 1999, we acquired the Internet domain name ebank.com, and on June 30, 1999, we commenced Internet banking services.
