Way over his head (applies to a lot of our executive management team). I've worked with Tom for several years now. While he comes across as a very nice guy, he's not very bright or an independent thinker. Also, can be very secretive and manipulative, and will tell you what he thinks you want to hear and not necessarily the truth. Will also take credit for your work/ideas, but only if good, and will throw you under the bus if a problem occurs. That said, all of the above could be said about most of our management team and is not unique to Tom. Its just our culture as set from the very top. Very challenging environment to work in if not a personal friend of our leader. Always watch your back and trust no one if you come on board with us and want to survive........

Nothing like having a head of finance who is a weasel. Except maybe a weasel running human resources which IBI has as well. This was well written, you obviously have worked with and know this team very well. It all stems from the paranoia exhibited by the leader of IBI. He is a manipulative, untrustworthy, power hungry and greedy individual.

His team is made up of weak sheep like figures who have traded their integrity for a paycheck. Watch your back is an understatement at IBI.

This lack of integrety is catching up with them. IBI has a serious turnover problem and the employees despise their leaders and their results speak volumes about where this company is headed.[/quote]

Here are a few quotes for you:

"The first method for estimating the intelligence of a ruler is to look at the men he has around him. "

"There are three classes of intellects: one which comprehends by itself; another which appreciates what others comprehend; and a third which neither comprehends by itself nor by the showing of others; the first is the most excellent, the second is good, and the third is useless. "

I will tell you who didn't make these quotes...The leader of IBI, he is surrounded by a bunch of yes men and women. He tolerates no dissent and or differences of opinion. That's why his company is stuck in the mud and starting to bleed. No strategy and since the President left, no new ideas on how to grow the business. So he has coopted the only course that he could think of, expense reduction. Very short-term and narrow focus. This strategy will leave IBI behind the curve and will lead to the eventual downfall of this company.

They are pinning their hopes on the effectiveness of the new COO. Being the new guy on the block the leader of IBI loves him. This guy is so snowed under in work it is painful to watch. The CEO talks about all the great things the new COO will do..........In a year of so this guy will understand that he is another puppet on the string set up to fail and things will not be much better than now. He will realize that the systems are ancient, the culture is based on greed at the top and employees dislike their leaders. If he is smart, he will leave, otherwise the leader of IBI will scapegoat him out of the company. That's what this guy does. He is long on greed and short on honor and integrity.

Trust me, I have been with this company for five years at a reasonably high level and have watched this play out time and again. There is only room for one person in a dictatorial environment. All others must duck and take cover.

The sad part about all of this is that if this company was led by someone with integrity the performance of this company would be vastly improved. This would make employees and investors happy.
