I know that the person who posted the main complaint had a bone to pick with Richard Setzer, I personally didn't work for him, but did indeed see first hand that he lacked any interpersonal skills, and that there were 15 to 20 employees who filed a complaint against him with Kodak's HR department.
I was asked to cover a territory under Rich, and I did so with the understanding that I would not report to him directly, and that it would be a short term deal, while they either brought back Greg, or replaced him!
Personally I would have done a little more reshearch on this individual, and I hope that he may have had a personality change, otherwise you'll be looking for another VP of Marketing in the very near future. |

I don't think it was a case of a "bone to pick" or anthing in a personal sense with Rick Setzer. Many people went to HR with their own grievances towards him at Kodak. Scores of other people who didn't work for him heard stories. I was able to hear some KMX's ,very cold hearted. Underlings wanted him gone and it finally reached ears in higher places. One person retired early and his interpersonal tact was a major reason why.
This guy was a mistake. He did not perform well. In fact, if I recall, if it wasn't for Mizzi's territory and hard work (during a time his father died of many cancer's), Setzer would have had a terrible performance. I think Mizzi was the top dollar performer of his type.
The whole Mizzi thing was mishandled by some. His career should not have ended that way. It is no way to go out as a young man with an infant and family. It was no fault of his own. I know he could have ONLY worked for about a half year more because of very serious medical reasons, but you work with somebody who is your top performer and handicapped. One does not respond or act hard. You keep him around for as long as possible. His territory was split up and covered by 6 or 7 people as you know. It also never sold as well again. The numbers do not lie. Setzer was not the only reason why Mizzi's career was ended. There were few others involved in HR and one in management as well as other reasons (medical). They are now gone.
So is Setzer. |
