Do not invest in SIG, they are failing as a company and their management are driving the business into the ground!

You seem to be so confident about this stock. However, I don't know much about the business they are in (petroleum products, petrochemicals, synthetic fibers, and plastics).
I am not familiar with the companies from China. Aren't they supposed to post their quarterly results, not only annual ones? I can only find the annual ones?
Can you explain this more precisely to me?
As looking at the balance sheet, total assets seem to be growing in the last three years, though nothing is still known about 2008.
Total Assets
2007: $4,092,853,000
2006: $3,526,235,000
2005: $3,332,195,000
What about the year 2008? Is this information available?
I want to make sure that everything is clean in this company and you are not just promoting SHI.

Its true what people are saying about SIG, the management are running the company into the ground and are paying people off left right and center. I think it should be some of the management that need to go and stop destroying a good company. if it was run properly and they stopped going on football weekends and big architects weekends and not getting anything out off it after spending thousands i think the company would save allot of money. This was a good company to work for but i think its time SIG as a hole had a chat with there ordinary staff in the offices and the store men about what they think, i think they would find out the truth about management and what they are really doing (NOTHING). They wont even listen to the staff! Whatever management say, goes. they wont listen to the staff. if the staff had anything to say, they would be out on there ear. the management would have them out in no time, in case they told the truth about them?????????? management are getting BIG MONEY for doing nothing, just ruining a very good company.

is this the management's fault that the company is performing so bad? maybe it's the economical crisis only? eh?

Yes it might be the economical crisis but there are people in SIG offices that are doing a lot more than what management and so called directors are doing. These people can bring in a lot more money for the company while all the managers are stuck in there offices all day looking at figers. I have been talking to some good ex employees of SIG IRELAND and they are the same over there. I was told that people over there are being payed off that could of turned the company around and that people who the directors or HR are very good friends with are being put into jobs were they are not even needed. (jobs for mates). I think SIG Ireland are in for a big shock, the company over there seems to be making bad decisions. Also heard that they have 1 or 2 members of staff up in North of Ireland working for one company and bringing in OK money and they have about 6,7,8 members of staff in Dublin in these company's doing nothing. Do they realy need all that staff if 1 or 2 people can run it up north. I don't no who runs Ireland, but what i do no is SIG PLC need to look at what is happening over there before things go bang.

This seems to be a real disaster for the company.
I hope this situation is going to change one day.
At least, they will stop hurting the pockets of investors in such a way.
Do you think this could ever change? I think this is the problem of management. And if it does not change, we won't see any change in the company's performance as well. Is it real?

This company sounds like its about to go under. I Think the directors of SIG PLC as a hole need to look at Ireland and see what is happening over there. I was going to invest but it looks like i will be going else were as Ireland sounds like the management and directors are ruining a very good company and keeping themselves and friends in a job for there own benefit and turning this company up side down. (Who is looking after Ireland?)
I WILL NOT BE INVESTING!

Lewis, can it happen that the company is going to be delisted from the NYSE and thrown to the OTCBB if its performance is getting worse?

How accurate is that, that SIG is late on the payments to the suppliers? Anybody knows? [/b]

The Company secured its immediate future with the rights issue this year- SIG plc are well set to see the downturn through and will be best placed to take full advantage of the upturn when it arrives. They are still the market leaders in many markets in the UK and the staff are as dedicated, talented and committed as any you'll find anywhere.
In terms of management the disappointing thing is it seems that the company moved from being a very cash rich business 10 or so years ago to being in a mountain of debt today- mainly borrowing to pursue their policy of growing by aquisition. Some of those aquisitions were too appalling for words and many of those businesses that cost millions have now been downsized, almagamated with other businesses or closed.
With a share price of 125p at close today- up from 111p early last week and a price of well over 1400p in the recent past I personally believe it to be a decent medium term investment. Bear in mind though the interim statement on 12/11/09. I'm not expecting any massive shocks however you never know.
I personally feel 2010 could be a surprisingly decent year for SIG.
