The problem with UMH is that they are never held accountable for their sub-standard property maintainance. If you have a legitimate gripe and have informed management and nothing is done, write them a cretified letter staing that you will be placing your money in a escrow account until your problem is resloved. Then go to the bank and do it. Make sure you deposit the rent in full at the first of every month. The park then has the option to take you to court (which if your complaint is legitmate, they'll lose, have to pay court costs and fix the problem anyway) or they'll fix the problem posthaste. Make sure you send a certified letter to the main office too, and to keep copies of everything. This is completely legal and costs no money. If every resident with a legitmate gripe did this, you'd start to see a big turnaround in the attitude of management. I know it's a bit of a hassle, but if a group of residents enacted this, you would empower yourselves and get a lot better service in the future. UMH and it's management relies on it's tenants ignorance to do the least amount of work to keep their parks presentable, but if you hit them in their pocketbooks, you'd get quick resluts.
