Jim Busche came under criticism for his management style during his years at Dorr Oliver Eimco and was passed over for promotion several times. He was seen as petty and liable to react strongly against anyone who criticized him. He was also know as someone who was given to exaggeration and also told downright lies. In October 2006 he was found guilty of aggravated domestic violence against his wife of 24 years by a jury trial. Dorr Oliver Eimco sued Jim Busche for breach of contract for poaching their employees and for stealing technology from them. Jim Busche was also investigated for running an illegal company in Salt Lake City called FOS Bonding. He was served with a cease and desist order by the Insurance Regulators of the state of Utah. Does this make Jim Busche a bad manager? Perhaps not but he truly a ruthless and dispicable person.

Hello Stroma. Where can I get the background on these claims? I know his prior work experience which leads him back to Salt Lake City.....but where can I get the proof of this FOS Bonding being a fraud and his arrest?

If you are willing to identify yourself by name and address I will fax you a copy of the cease and desist order Jim Busche received on his illegal company FOS Bonding.

Also I will fax you a court order showing that Jim Busche was convicted and subsequently pled "guilty" to domestic violence charges against his ex-wife. He is currently on probation for this offence and is undergoing anger management classes as part of his sentence.

Jim Busche is at this moment serving probation for the domestic assault of his wife of 24 years. He pleaded guilty to domestic violence charges brought against him by the state of Utah after he had been found "guilty" by a jury trial in October of 2006. At first Jim Busche filed an appeal against his "guilty" verdict but after consulting with his council pled "guilty" in abeyance - in other words he was trying to wipe his record clean. This is his modus operandi - not taking responsibilty for the problems he causes

The fact that KHD Humboldt would hire Jim Busche knowing all of his personal baggage says something about the company. They knew he had been found out in an adulterous affair with a woman named Madhu Grover who followed him to Hong Kong from Manhattan; they knew he had been accused of domestic violence against his wife of 24 years; they decided to make him their CEO and President regardless.

Also Jim Busche lied on his resume to KHD. They required current experience in China for the position of CEO and President as advertised. Jim Busche had not been in China for more than 12 years - a revue of his passport will verify this. Either KHD did not care or Jim Busche lied to them- which do you think it was? Also Jim Busche always stated he had a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Iowa. Not true - he had a BSc in Animal Husbandry - quite a difference. His MBA was from a correspondence course through the University of Phoenix - not a REAL MBA.

When Micael Smith was confronted with these lies his position was to support Jim Busche.

Who is interested in Jim Busche's background? Do you know he lied on his resumee to KHD Wedag? The job he applied for required CURRENT Chinese experience. He hasd not been to or had dealings with China in over 12 years. How is that "current"?

I am amused by the outrage about Jim Busche's privacy being violated; all that Laughing man said is true. I knew Jim when he worked for Dorr Oliver - no one was sad to see the back of him as he was no loss to the company. People laughed at him behind his back cause he was such a liar; he lied about everything, making himself out to be a hero -what a joke!! Also I know all about what he did and there is no breech of privacy - it is all available through the 3rd District Court records in Salt Lake - the conviction for domestic violence to which he was found guilty after a trial by jury, he's on probation for 18 months, the Cease and Desist order on his illegal FOS Bonding. Oh yes, he's a BAD man and the records are available to show it. I have met his wife and she is a lovely, tiny little blond who was a much classier person than Jim - I can't imagine why someone like her would give him a second look.
As to the stock price - well maybe some investors won't deal with someone who beats up his wife and runs an illegal business. I hear he got his girlfriend, Madhu a job with a company owned by KHD - He beat up his wife when Jim's own secretary told his wife he'd been seeing Madhu for 6 months behind her back and Jim tried to get his secretary fired in retaliation. Ask Jim about Madhu. Maybe his employees in Hong Kong have met her?

Has KHD forbidden its employees from contributing to the message board regarding Jim Busche? Why is nobody responding? Is the news that Jim Busche is a BAD person so upsetting? Well maybe the board of KHD made a big mistake and dannot find a way out of the problem. Michael Smith gave Jim Busche a contract as CEO but did not pay attention to the facts that were coming out about Jim Busche's previous behaviour. How would you feel if the CEO you employed was a wife beater and someone who had broken the law? Of course you would try to defend your decision even as you hoped the evidence would not come to the knowledge of your employees and shareholders.
If I owned shares in KHD I would sell them as soon as possible because when you do business with bad people, bad things happen. Most investors feel the same and as Jim Busche's bad reputation circulates and people become more aware of his past, the more likely it becomes that no investor will put money into KHD. So Is Jim Busche a liability to KHD? I think so but maybe Michael Smith is of another opinion. Maybe Michael Smith cannot afford to admit he made a mistake? Perhaps he is aware that Jim Busche's past is a liability to KHD but he cannot admit this without acknowledging negligence on his own part?
Also Jim and Michael have made some changes to the company's tax situation which benefitted both of them substantially but actually hurt the company's bottom line. Are they in bed together? Are they working for the good of the shareholders or are they working to make sure they come out with millions? Can you trust what they say? You decide.

KHD's stock fell 80% while the market dropped 40%. How is that good management? Jim appeared on Bloomberg TV in Oct 2008 with a stupdly optimistic outlook for KHD. Every investor watching it laughed! Is that what a good CEO does or was this the pathological liar in him coming out? Either way KHD is better off without him. Now perhaps your stock options will be worth something.
