The company is now in a much better situation. They finally found the money to finance the drilling project. The first well should start before the end of september.

Malcolm bendall has been trying to get this project off the ground for 20 plus years. It has gone through a number of companies and the companies have left trails of creditors unpaid, each time rolling over to a new entity, the latest being Empire. The management style is brush and arrogant, with little thought of the shareholders, all of whom have suffered at the hands of what would be deemed to not be a very effective manager. THe companies "assetts" are questionable in relation to the oil in the ground, if any. IF there was so much oil, why didn't the majors pick it up, they have had plenty of opportunities, but .......

I have known malcolm since his early 30's. He is well known in tasmania and I can honestly say he is the most deceptive and dangerous individual I have ever known.
Many in tasmania will not speak publicly about malcolm for this reason, i challenge those that question this post to talk to the local tasmanian west coast community (mining town), local tasmanian investors or community and hear what they have to say.
What would they say & what would they learn? Malcolm has ripped off west coast mining operators going back 20 or so years, ripped off many local tassie investors, made and received death threats with his shot gun, not paid some employees, has funded his lavish lifestyle in australia/overseas through investor funds and has not proved in all this time that oil actually exists in tassie.
Perhaps the media could then speak to a few girl friends as to what he is like personally. Guess what - more great news!! I personally know of jealous acts, intimidation, threats and stand-overs on ex-boy friends. One good thing! No - i don't know of him touching drugs...
Whilst I am delighted to hear that malcom's day will finally play out with the drilling in tasmania - I am sadden by the way in which this has all played out..
My advice... Speak to the locals before you invest, else wait till the oil hits the surface... Good luck

Mr. Bendall does not look like a honest and nice man. However, I wouldn't trust in the opinion about him and still invest in the company if the financial situation was better. But, unfortunately, it is not.
As the balance sheet (filed 30-Sep-0 indicated, the company has more assets than in the earlier quarters. However, it has to cover more liabilities as well. So that does not change the situation at all.
Plus the company is valued in the market negatively. That's one more huge minus if investment is considered.
All in all, if we add the information that "not saying" has provided, the conclusion can be as follows: both sides of the coin (financial and management) are covered with dirt.

How is it that someone who has been supposedly actively exploring for oil for 30 years in a geographically small area and has failed to find anything at all still gets media support and investors? Anyone who knows the real history of Malcolm Bendall's remarkable ability to recycle projects and companies to new naive investors and a media too lazy to do their research isn't surprised by his current lack of success - at finding oil that is, nor at his success at maintaining a living for himself and a couple of friendly "consultants" despite 30 years of repeated failure, including dropping out of university and never attaining a qualification that he is often implied to have studied.

Trading in the OTCBB and Pink Sheets is not for everyone. Often the stocks are illiquid and have a large spread between bid and ask. There are also a lot of companies that are completely worthless and will try and masquerade as great companies while diluting their shares.

Gediminas J.,
On a percentage basis the stock is 32% above the level of the announcement, that sounds very good to me. 32%, I'll take that on no real news.
Empire did not say anything of real note the other day. There was no meat in the announcement. It was just a re-hash of old news. Hunt Drilling had no other option. They had to make an agreement with Empire, because the other option, taking them to court, would only benefit the lawyers, Empire couldn't pay them, it would mean the end of the company. The only choice was to hope the well is a success to get paid.
Empire needs to release some news with real meat:
1) Their lease was approved
2) They have raised the capital to drill
3) They are drilling
4) They have a producing well
Until Empire announces the above points, there is no real reason for the stock to trade higher.
Right now they are in a dead zone. They don't have the capital to drill, and they can't raise the capital unless their lease is approved. So, they have to get their lease approved, then raise the capital to drill. Until then, there is no reason for the stock to go up.
