Several years ago I signed an order form to advertise with the Jewish Israeli Yellow Pages. The law in the State of New York gives consumers a 3 day period during which to change his mind and cancel the agreement. Of course, everyone knows that this is known as "3 days rights of rescission." The law also states that it doesn't matter if the order form or contract has language, such as "no cancellations" because the law supercedes such claims and basically voids them.

When I called the Jewish Israeli Yellow Pages to cancel my ad they told me they don't honor cancellations. I spoke to Assaf Ran, and he refused to cancel the order, saying, "you're a very stupid person" after I notified him of what the law is. Anyway, I ended up taking The Jewish Israeli Yellow Pages to court. Of course I won, because I was right, and the law was on my side. Assaf Ran would not pay me the $467.00 judgment. When I called Dapey Assaf the secretary told me "Assaf hates you. He's not going pay you." I had to enforce the judgment by paying someone to collect it for me. Finally, about two years later I got some of my money back.

I think it's very important to be honorable and obey the law.
