Carbon Motors Corporation today announced its partnership with Federal Signal Corporation to use their automatic license plate recognition (ALPR), public address and siren systems for the Carbon ‘E7’, the world’s first purpose-built law enforcement patrol vehicle.

“With the Carbon ‘E7’, we will be offering leading edge technologies that are dependable and durable in order to make the task of law enforcement safer and more efficient,” remarked Trevor J. Rudderham, executive vice president and chief development officer for Carbon Motors Corporation. “We are very pleased to have partnered with Federal Signal to provide key systems for our vehicle that we know will meet these goals.”

“Federal Signal is pleased to partner with Carbon Motors to bring our advanced technology solutions into the new Carbon ‘E7’ vehicle,” said Michael K. Wons, vice president and general manager for Federal Signal Corporation’s Safety and Security Systems Division. “Incorporating Federal Signal’s well known siren and speaker systems, along with our leading PIPS’ automated license plate recognition technology, the new ‘E7’ is positioned to be the most advanced integrated high-tech law enforcement solution created to date. We applaud the efforts of Carbon Motors in bringing this new vehicle from concept to launch. This is a very exciting time for the law enforcement community.” Terms of the agreement were undisclosed.

The announcement was made just ahead of a gathering of law enforcement and community leaders brought together to view the Carbon ‘E7’ and discuss the nation’s homeland security challenges, the energy crisis, and the creation of new American jobs in San Jose, California – an official tour stop of the 2008 Carbon Motors Pure Justice Tour. The next stop on the tour will be at the San Francisco 51st Annual International Auto Show to be held November 22 – 29, 2008. Details of the tour are available at www.carbonmotors.com/tour.
