WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., April 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- K & F Industries Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: KFI) today announced plans to expand the operations of its Engineered Fabrics Corporation (EFC) subsidiary.

Driven by strong demand for its products from the military sector, EFC plans to construct a new facility at its Rockmart, Georgia headquarters. The 60,000 square foot plant will support the increased production of the company's de-icing equipment and helicopter interior upholstery product lines, and accommodate the future requirements of new flexible bladder fuel tank programs. The $5 million cost of the plant will be funded by K&F with in kind support by the City of Rockmart and the Polk County Commission. Plans call for construction to commence in early April and conclude in the third quarter of 2007, with plant startup in early 2008.

Kenneth M. Schwartz, K & F Industries president and chief executive officer, stated, 'EFC has experienced tremendous growth in orders, particularly from military programs such as the KC-135 aerial refueling plane and the V-22 vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. Our new facility will enable us to meet the requirements for these and other important programs, and ensure sufficient capacity for the future. Critical to the success of this expansion project is the participation of the Rockmart Development Authority and the Development Authority of Polk County, Georgia , which have provided generous support as part of a broader initiative to stimulate economic growth in the region.'

Engineered Fabrics is the leading supplier of flexible bladder fuel tanks for aircraft and helicopters for the U.S. military, worldwide commercial transport and general aviation markets. EFC is the only FAA-certified U.S. supplier of polyurethane manufactured fuel tanks. EFC's self-sealing, crash resistant fuel tanks significantly reduce the potential for fires, leaks and spilled fuel. EFC is also a major producer of de-icing equipment and specialty coated fabrics used for storage, shipping, environmental and rescue applications for the commercial and military markets.

In addition to EFC, K & F Industries Holdings, Inc. operates Aircraft Braking Systems Corporation, one of the world's leading manufacturers of braking equipment for commercial, general aviation, and military aircraft. The company manufactures a wide range of braking equipment including antiskid, auto-brake, brake-by-wire systems, and brake temperature monitoring systems as well as main and nose wheels, carbon and steel brakes, and ancillary equipment. Its products are installed on approximately 26,000 aircraft worldwide, more than any other supplier.
