Root9b Technologies Inc (OTCMKTS:RTNB) Reaching New Heights

by Anastas Gegov May 14, 2015

The start of 2015 was rather slow for the stock of Root9b Technologies Inc (OTCMKTS:RTNB, RTNB message board). The ticker is usually very thinly traded and we rarely see a lot of interest. More recently, however, we have been seeing some spikes in daily volume.

The company itself is doing rather well. It is in the cybersecurity business and, although it doesn’t have that much cash on hand, it generates some significant revenues. Here are just some of the numbers contained in the balance sheet of RTNB’s annual report for 2014.

  • cash: $765 thousand
  • current assets: $4.99 million
  • current liabilities: $6.06 million
  • revenues: $20.17 million
  • net loss: $24.43 million

Unfortunately, while the company is indeed generating massive revenues, compared to other OTC entities, the net loss is simply huge. We see that the revenues have gone down by around 20% year-over-year, while the net loss has grown by nearly 300%, going from $6.12 million in 2013 to $24.43 million in 2014.

Still, despite the not-so-good performance that RTNB showed in 2014, the company has reached a market cap of nearly $150 million, something that few OTC entities can boast with. More recently, a press release that announced the company has moved from #216 to #45 in the Cybersecurity 500 list was enough to push it 14.44% up in yesterday’s session.

The volume spiked once again and we saw 787 thousand shares change their owners while RTNB was going for a close at $2.06, passing the $2 mark for the first time in its trading history. The daily trade value was also impressive with a total of $1.55 million.

Today’s session has also started on a good for and RTNB is reaching new heights after a 7.77%. Only time will tell if the ticker will push further up the charts or deflate but, in any case, be sure to do your due diligence and weigh out the risks before putting any money on the line.
